Melawati Rotary - A Message from the Club President

I take this opportunity to graciously thank my club members for having placed their confidence and faith in me to lead this club as President in the RY 2010/2011. I am confident that each and every member will give me their utmost cooperation, guidance, support and assistance.

In his message, our District Governor has rightly emphasized the need to build the brand of Rotary. In April this year our Club set up a Resource Centre for Children with Special Needs in Taman Melawati, the first of its kind in the Ulu Kelang area and a definite branding for our club in the community. We have taken a bold step but the journey has just begun. We will have to continue to work on enhancing the facilities and programs at the Resource Centre to ensure that the Centre evolves into truly integrated centre catering to the mental and physical development of Children with Special Needs and enhancing the caring skills of the Care Givers.

In line with this year’s Rotary theme, “Building Communities, Bridging Continents” my mission for the year is to make the presence of the Rotary Club of Melawati felt within the local and international community. This will be done by focusing on projects that will involve direct and active participation of the people in the communities we work with. This will not only enrich their lives but also help foster a spirit of caring for our fellow human beings and for the environment they live in. I also aim to work towards my vision of setting up a Special Centre catering to the needs of senior citizens in our community.

Once again, I will like to thank all our friends of Rotary, advertisers, donors, sponsors and members of the community whose continuous support and assistance has helped us carry out many meaningful service projects for our community.
